ܐܵܦ ܠܝܼ ܡܵܪܝ ܗܲܒ݂ܠܝܼ ܝܲܠܕܵܐ: ܕܪܲܕ݂ܸܦܘܼܢܝ ܚܸܤ̈ܕܹܐ ܕܥܲܩܪܘܼܬܵܐ.
أَعطِني أَنا أَيضًا يا رَبِّي وَلَدًا، فَقَد لاحَقَتني مَعايِرُ العُقمِ؛
āp lī mārī havlī yaldā: d-radhepūnī ḥesdē d-ʿaqrūtā.
Give me too, my Lord, a child, for the reproaches of barrenness pursue me,
À moi aussi, mon Seigneur, donne un enfant, car les opprobres de la stérilité me poursuivent ;
ܘܒ݂ܝܼ ܢܹܐܠ̈ܦܵܢ ܫܲܪܟܵܐ ܕܢܸܫܹ̈ܐ: ܕܐܲܢ̄ܬ݁ ܗ̄ܘ̣ ܒܲܠܚܘܿܕ݂ ܚܲܢܵܢܵܐ؟
ولْتَتَعَلَّمْ بي سائِرُ النِّساءِ، أنَّكَ أنتَ وَحدَكَ الرَّحيمُ؟
w-vī nēlpān sharkā d-neshē: d-a(n)t hāw ba-l-ḥōdh ḥanānā
and through me let the rest of women learn that you alone are compassionate?
et qu'en moi le reste des femmes apprennent que toi seul es compatissant ?
ܒܗܵܠܹܝܢ ܚܲܢܵܐ ܐܲܦܝܼܤܲܬ݀: ܠܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ ܒܓܵܘ ܒܹܝܬ݂ ܩܘܼܕܫܵܐ.
بِهذِهِ الكَلِماتِ تَضَرَّعَت حَنَّةُ، إلى اللهِ في داخِلِ بَيتِ القُدسِ،

With these words Hannah made supplication to God within the sanctuary,

ولم يَتَأَخَّرْ أن يَرُدَّ لَها، الطِّلبَةَ الّتي طَلَبَتها مِنهُ.
w-lā eshtāwḥar panī lāh: shelthā da-b-ʿāth menēh.
and its answer was not delayed to her — the request she had sought of him.
et sa réponse ne tarda pas — la demande qu'elle lui avait faite.
ܘܤܲܪ̈ܲܠܵܬ݂ܐ ܒܥܲܝ̈ ܦܸܬ݂ܓܵܡܹ̈ܐ: ܘܐܲܪܦ݂ܝܼ ܨܠܘܿܬ݂ܵܐ ܕܒܹܝܬ݂ ܩܘܼܕܫܵܐ.
[...]، وتَرَكَ صَلاةَ بَيتِ القُدسِ.
w-saralāth b-ʿaī pethgāmē: w-arfī ṣlōthā d-bēyth qūdshā.
[...], and forsook the prayer of the sanctuary.

ܕܲܪܚܸܡ ܩܸܨ̈ܡܹܐ ܟܲܕܵܒܹ̈ܐ: ܘܥܸܢܝܵܢܹܗ ܤܢܲܝ̈ ܕܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ؟
الّذي أَحَبَّ العِرافاتِ الكاذِبَةَ، وشُغلُهُ مَمقوتٌ عِندَ اللهِ؟
da-rḥem qeṣmē kadābē: w-ʿenyānēh snaī d-alāhā
who loves lying divinations, and whose pursuit is hated by God?
qui aime les augures menteurs, et dont l'occupation est haïe de Dieu ?
ܢܸܦܢܸܐ ܗܵܟܹܝܠ ܡ̣ܢ ܛܘܼܥܝܲܝ: ܘܢܸܗܘܸܐ ܚܲܕ̈ܲܬܹܐ ܒܲܡܫܝܼܚܵܐ.
فَلْنَرجِعْ إذًا عَنِ الضَّلالَةِ، ولْنَصِرْ جُدُدًا في المَسيحِ،
nepne hākēyl men ṭūʿyaī: w-nehwe ḥadatē ba-mshīḥā.
Let us turn, then, from our error, and be renewed in Christ,
Détournons-nous donc de l'erreur, et soyons renouvelés dans le Christ,
ܘܠܵܐ ܢܚܲܠܸܛ ܒܹܗ ܒܲܫܪܵܪܵܐ: ܝܘܼܠܦܵܢܵܐ ܕܐܸܫܕܲܝ ܙܐܦܵܐ܀
ولا نَخلِطْ بِالحَقِّ، التَّعليمَ الّذي سَكَبَهُ الزَّيفُ.
w-lā nḥaleṭ bēh ba-shrārā: yūlpānā d-eshdaī zpā.
and not mix into the truth the teaching that falsehood has poured forth.
et ne mêlons pas à la vérité l'enseignement que le mensonge a répandu.
ܗܵܢܵܐ ܒܲܝܬܵܐ ܢܸܗܘܸܐ ܠܲܢ: ܡܲܒ݁ܘܼܥܵܐ ܕܟ݂ܠ ܒܘܼܤܵܡܝܼܢ.
لِيَكُنْ هذا البَيتُ لَنا، يَنبوعًا لِكُلِّ لَذَّةٍ،
hānā ba-ytā nehwe lan: mabūʿā d-kul b-w-sāmīn.
Let this house be to us a fountain of every delight,
Que cette maison nous soit une source de toute joie,
ܘܤܲܒ݂ܪܵܐ ܩܠܝܼܕܵܐ ܢܸܗܘܸܐ ܠܲܢ: ܕܦܵܬܲܚ ܬܲܪܥܵܐ ܠܫܹ̈ܐܠܵܬܲܢ܀
ولْيَكُنِ الرَّجاءُ لَنا مِفتاحًا، يَفتَحُ البابَ لِطِلباتِنا.
w-savrā qlīdā nehwe lan: d-pātaḥ tarʿā l-shēlātan.
and let hope be to us a key that opens the door to our petitions.
et que l'espérance nous soit une clé qui ouvre la porte à nos demandes.

لا تَضجَروا أَيُّها الأَغنِياءُ، مِنَ الفُقَراءِ الّذينَ يَطلُبونَ مِنكُم؛
lā tetpīrūn ʿatyrē: b-mesknē da-l-khōn bāʿēyn.
Be not vexed, you rich, by the poor who seek from you;
Ne soyez pas irrités, vous les riches, par les pauvres qui vous demandent ;
ܐܸܬ݁ܕܲܟ݂ܪܘ ܕܝܼܢܹܗ ܕܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ: ܘܗܲܒ݂ܘ ܐ̄ܢܵܫ ܡ̣ܢ ܡܵܐ ܕܲܩܢܹܝܬ݁ܘܿܢ܀
اذكُروا دَينونَةَ اللهِ، وأَعطوا كُلُّ واحِدٍ مِمّا اقتَنَيتُم.
etdakhrw d-īnēh d-alāhā: w-havw nāsh men mā da-qnēytōn.
remember the judgment of God, and give something of what you have gained.
souvenez-vous du jugement de Dieu, et donnez chacun de ce que vous avez acquis.
