w-b-ʾūrḥēh d-rabhōn halekhw b-ḥīṣū wa-b-kul pūrāsh.
and in the path of their master they walked eagerly, in all abstinence.
lebhōn kaneshw men kul pehyā w-āp men kul ṭʿāsh:
They gathered their heart from all folly and also from all error,
wa-ghmīrāīth hwāw mnakhryā men kul ba-rnāsh.
and became wholly strangers to every man.
l-rabhōn yadaʿw d-ba-d-mūth shlīḥē hāw naṣīḥ w-qadīsh:
They knew that their master was illustrious and holy, in the likeness of the apostles,
wa-b-ghāw mʿartēh akhzen ʿīrā shle (h)wā wa-ḥvīsh.
and in his cave the watcher was at rest, enclosed.
bēhū da-mīw b-kul sūʿrānhōn w-lā sākh apīshw:
They were like him in all their conduct, and did not cease at all,
w-men kul pehyā wa-mdhāwdūtā hāwnhōn hwā knīsh.
and from all folly and distraction their mind was gathered.
ʿmarw (h)wāw b-ʿūmrēh ʾ(n)shā ʿlaymē w-āp men d-qashīsh:
They lived in his way of life, young men and also the old,
w-lā hwe b-hōn nāsh d-yaʿnā napshēh w-napīsh wa-shīsh.
and there was not among them one who was vain of himself, and proud and troubled.
