w-la-myamnāyē aḥev shapīr w-aslī l-da-ghʿīṣ.

and he loved the faithful well, and rejected the crooked.

akhzen avqā l-shēd tḥēyth reglāwhī shavqēh kad ḥvīṣ:

He trampled the demon under his feet, and left him crushed,

w-ḥūthrēh mdagl w-ba-qīq w-paḥīḥ ba-ṣlōtēh rṣīṣ.

and his staff, deceitful, empty and cracked, he crushed with his prayer.

b-d-w-ghmāṭīqāwhī gērēh smīmā b-lebhōn hwā b-rīṣ:

In his teachings his poisoned arrow was fixed in their heart,

w-qeṣ shūʿlāyhōn ba-ʿdar ṣlōtēh ʿlayhōn hwā b-l-īṣ.

and the end of their deceits, by the help of his prayer, was pressed upon them.

aykh athlēysā āghōnīsē ʿbad kad hāw ḥīṣ:

Like an athlete he fought the contests, eager as he was,

wa-d-marw ʿīrē b-athlēysūtēh b-da-ḥzāw da-ḥlīṣ.

and the watchers marvelled at his athletic feats, when they saw that he was girded for the fight.

Everyone who looks on the wonders of our father begins to give praise,

tāwdēī l-īshōʿ w-d-w-ksā la-shmēh qāʿē w-zāʿēq.

He gives thanks to Jesus, and calls and cries out glory to his name.

Through our father Hormizd he delivered from them every sickness,

wa-d-ḥaq wa-znaq ʿarṣūth marʿē w-shēdā d-shāḥēq.

and drove out and thrust off the assault of diseases, and the demon who mocks.

tarʿīth māryā w-ḥaylēh kasyā l-gelyā apeq:

The will of the Lord and his hidden power he brought into the open,

w-aykh da-b-dāwīd d-ṣevyān dāḥlāwhī ḥraq d-lā dāḥēq.

and as in David, he fulfils the will of those who fear him, and does not thrust them away.

ṣevyānhōn d-yn w-khlāh b-ʿāthhōn ʿābēd w-mapeq:

Their desire, all of it, in their request he does and brings about,

wa-l-vāʿūthhōn ḥanānāīth shāmaʿ w-pārēq.

and their petition he graciously hears and saves.

He guards them from every danger, and does not abandon them,

w-la-d-maʿwel b-hōn b-nārgā d-rūghzēh māwbed w-pāsēq.

and whoever would bring on them the saw of his wrath, he destroys and cuts off.

kmā dēyn zavnīn ʿal mārōdē pāqēd w-nāpēq:

But how many times he commands against the rebels, and it goes forth:

shavṭā d-rūghzā d-qāṭal l-b-īshē kēyth wa-mṭalēq.

a rod of wrath that kills the wicked indeed, and destroys them.

and the rod of his anger, as a father, he stops by his mercies.

wa-ʿbed ʿavadīn l-aḥāwhī nehwe akhmā d-zādaq.
