In wonder he began to proclaim the praise of our father:

da-b-nūḥāmēh d-shāybīn l-khlan ḥadī w-arwez.

"Rejoice and be glad, all of us, at the comfort of him who sets us free!"

hāw shalīṭā men pūnāy l-hōn ṭāv aghlez:

That ruler, in reply, rebuked them soundly,

Ce gouverneur, en réponse, les réprimanda vertement,

b-d-īdaʿ nekhlhōn d-layt bēh shrār lēh b-sā w-anwez..

for he knew their deceit, that there is no truth in it; he despised and rejected them.

pḥōr qerḥāyē mshaʿbadā hāw d-shedē w-menhōn ethbazez:

The bald band, enslaved to demons, was despised and scattered among them,

w-men sāṭānā ʿal kul b-īshān ettwez w-ettzez.

and from Satan, above all evils, they were saved and delivered.

l-yūlpān sherē eṣṭlī w-menhōn sagī ethlzez:

He prayed to teach the rest, and many of them were won over,

w-ba-thqōp ḥṭāhē ezdayan ṭāv w-ʿaz w-ethʿzez.

and against the might of sins he armed himself well, and was strong, and was strengthened.
