w-ʿīr ṭaʿnēh b-hāwpā d-rūḥā kad ethparad.

and an angel bore him on a gust of wind, and he flew.

ʿal ge(n)v rāʿyā sāmēh wa-ḥzāyhī da-shkev wa-ʿnad:

He set him by the shepherd's side, and he saw him lying dead,

wa-b-hāw ṭūr klēh gzārēh hwā methbadbad.

and on that mountain all his flock was scattered.

ṣalī l-māryā wa-ḥī rāʿyā w-ettʿīr w-nād:

He prayed to the Lord, and the shepherd lived, woke and stirred,

wa-thraṣ w-ītev w-ʿamēh d-avūn hwā mestāwad.

and sat up straight, and talked with our father.

ʾīṭā pqad lēh d-ʿānēh nkanesh d-lā tethpalhad:

At once he told him to gather his flock, so that it would not scatter,

wa-b-ḥad rpāpā ahpkēh ʿīr w-lā ethnadnad.

and with one beat of its wings the angel turned it back, and it did not stray.
