trw-ākēlqarṣā bēh ethlalal w-bēh ettahlal.
enAnd the Slanderer was mocked through him, and made a fool through him.
trba-ṣlōth avūn b-kul ʿāqāt shēd ethnāwal:
enBy our father's prayer the demon was put to shame in every distress,
trw-benyān zēpēh npal w-ethḥalḥal wa-l-hal mhalhal.
enAnd the building of his pride fell and was shaken, and was left tottering from then on.
trba-ṣlōth avūn shēd rāmūth npal w-ethqalqal:
enBy our father's prayer the demon of pride fell and was cast down,
trw-men zūryēh w-men shūʿlāyēh b-ṭel w-ethbaṭal.
enAnd from his schemes and his tricks he ceased, and was brought to nothing.
trkad ḥzā d-medem lā lam āwtar b-kul d-ethpatl:
enWhen he saw that he had gained nothing at all by all his crooked dealing,
trʿellē rakev wa-b-ḥerḥā ʿal w-etdagl.
enHe rode on pretexts, and went in by quarrels, and played false.
traykh d-ʿal ʾdam b-shūrāī ʿālem nkal w-ethnakal:
enAs at the beginning of the world he dealt falsely with Adam and schemed,
trāp ʿal avūn ba-ḥṣōp apwhī sʿā w-ezdalal.
enSo against our father too he rushed with a brazen face, and was made contemptible.
traqrev ʿamēh d-athlēyṭ qūsht wa-b-rūḥ mkalal:
enHe made war on him, the athlete of truth, crowned in the Spirit,
trwa-vamaī ḥashāwhī ba-ḥlīṣūtēh lā ettalal.
enAnd in the waters of his sufferings, by his vigour, he was not made wet.
traqrev ʿamēh b-sharbōqyātēh w-lā eshtargl:
enHe drew near to him with his snares, and he was not entangled,
trw-lā ethʿarqal b-paḥāwhī w-ʾōqās w-lā ethparkl.
enAnd he was not tripped by his traps and his snares, and did not stumble.
traqrev dāwyā w-hāw ettavhath w-lā ethbṭalṭal:
enHe brought illness, and was put to shame, and did not let up,
trʿad eshtapad b-neghdē w-geddē sbal w-ethqṭalṭal.
enUntil he was lashed with whips and blows, and endured, and was crushed.
traqrev b-īsh wa-qīrā l-sedlēh w-l-īgh ethqhalhal:
enHe brought evil and called his ranks, and the legion gathered,
trwa-ṣlālīth ba-ʿqalqlūtēh qām w-eṣṭhalhal.
enAnd shrilly, in his crookedness, he rose up and neighed.
traqrev sān ʿamēh d-avūn w-ʿavdah tūhlāl:
enHe brought hatred against our father, and he made it a mockery,
trw-tabrēh w-dāshēh w-qāl l-w-ḥāmāwhī ḥshav aykh zmām ṣlāl.
enAnd broke it and trampled it, and the noise of its battles he counted as a clashing cymbal.
